Center for Rural Health Research

  • Discussion of the development and strategy to create a new school of Public Health that, within a decade, is ranked in the top third of all schools and programs in the country and has broad success metrics;
  • Presentation of the health and social challenges facing northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia;
  • Explore the inter-relationship of health, economic development and education and the importance of collaborative efforts to address all three parameters.
  • Explore how the Center for Rural Health research will work with regional partners and national experts to execute a performance excellence strategy to impact these health and social conditions by interrupting the inter-generational cycles of poor health, lack of education, and poverty.
