Cody Murdock joined Ballad Health in 2013 and has been in healthcare quality/process improvement for
over 8 years. Murdock identifies and leads improvement efforts that support the organization’s
strategic objectives through process efficiencies, cost reduction, and greater customer satisfaction. He
worked with various leaders in legacy Wellmont Health System to implement the operational excellence
initiative, a system wide approach that eliminates waste through use of lean methodology. Currently,
Murdock is supporting the Northwest and Northeast markets of Ballad Health, in operational excellence.
He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in public health, with a
concentration in health services administration, from East Tennessee State University. He has also
completed Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training and formal lean training. Murdock is an active Rotarian
and board member in the Kingsport Rotary club, serves as a board member for Northeast Tennessee
Contact 211 and Tennessee Society for Organizational Improvement (THA Affiliate Group). He and his
wife Amber, have 3 kids; Jude (11), Emerie (8), and Kennedy (18 months).
