David is the Co-Founder (with Thom Crosby in 2000) and President of Pal’s Business Excellence Institute. Pal’s BEI was the only 2015 Excellence Level Winner of the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence awards. He is one of the few people to have assisted seven companies in winning eight Baldrige Awards (about 8% of the total awards given), including The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company twice, Eastman Chemical Company, and Pal’s Sudden Service. He also developed the initial training and trained the first group of Baldrige Examiners and went on to serve as a National Baldrige Judge and Examiner. In addition to developing and teaching classes at Pal’s BEI to executives and managers, he has consulted with 100’s of companies of all types and sizes in operational excellence, Baldrige, Lean, Customer Service, Lean Six Sigma, and Strategic Planning. David is a Fellow of both the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE); is a licensed Professional Engineer, and holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering; is an ASQ-certified: Quality Engineer; Quality Manager; Six Sigma Black Belt; and Improvement Associate.
He has one daughter, Kate, graduated George Mason Law School in May 2016 and is married to Dr. Deborah Harley-McClaskey, a professor at ETSU whose specialty is teaching leadership.
